Instructors:
Lucinda M. Lear, NCTM has been an independent teacher of piano and voice for over 20 years. She received a B.A. in music with a vocal emphasis and an M.A. in Music with an emphasis in piano pedagogy from the University of Northern Iowa. She holds MTNA Professional Certification in Piano and voice and the Iowa Master Teacher Adjudicator certificate. Her students have been district and state winners in IMTA Pre-college Piano Auditions. Her professional associations include state and divisional offices in Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra Guild.
Lucinda’s stage credits with the Waterloo Community Playhouse include Jenny Lind in Barnum, Marian in Music Man, and most recently appeared in CATS. In 2005, Lear was soprano soloist for the premiere of a multi-media musical, Fabric of a Family at the University of Kentucky.
Jo E. Arthur, NCTM is the owner of Jo Arthur Music in Waverly, Iowa which was established in 1990. She holds the Professional Certificate in Piano from MTNA and has many years of experience in teaching both private and group lessons. Jo is a dedicated teacher who routinely incorporates technology and electronics into traditional methods of music instruction and performance. She is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), as well as the American Music Conference. In addition, she regularly plays for local schools, churches, businesses, and organizations.
