Cedar Valley Music Academy
Payment & Attendance Policies
- Enrollment is made for the academic year and tuition is based on the full academic year of 34 weeks. Students may register at the beginning of any month and will be charged from the date of the first lesson. Registration fee, the first month’s payment and a deposit of $30 for materials are due at the time of enrollment. Annual tuition may be divided into a budgeted monthly amount regardless of the number of lessons per month. Monthly payments are due by the first lesson of each month. Full year and semester tuition includes a 5% discount from monthly installments. A six-week summer session is billed separately. Students are expected to have a minimum of 5 lessons during the summer session. These summer lessons will guarantee a spot and continued progression in fall classes.
- Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month, September through May. Monthly statements will be sent home with students or mailed by the academy. Payment is past due on the 15th of the month and a $10.00 late fee will be accessed for any account past due. **Lessons may be discontinued for until the account is current. If a check is returned, there will be a $25.00 charge (plus any bank charges that may be incurred).
- Tuition entitles a student to participate in all academy activities as well as weekly lessons. The full monthly fee is paid whether or not the student attends all scheduled lessons and no credits or refunds will be given for missed lessons. Notification of inability to attend a lesson is a courtesy to the teacher, but does not excuse payment for the contracted lessons.
- Children learn at different rates. Each child needs ample time to succeed. Learning to follow through with projects is also an important lesson for the child. For these reasons, we invite parents to observe the method in action to be sure of their commitment before enrolling, and then fully intend to remain in the program for the full academic year, unless the teacher determines that the child is not ready.
- If discontinuance is unavoidable, the Music Academy will accept withdrawal at the end of the semester. Except for emergency situations, a month’s notice is expected or tuition will be collected for the month. Students may be dismissed from lessons for any of the following reasons:
- Repeated failure to attend lessons or prepare for lessons
- Behavior or attitude problems
- Nonpayment of tuition
- Students who attend regularly will show the greatest musical progress. If a child cannot attend the scheduled class, they may choose to join another class that week, provided contact has been made and approval been received by the teacher. Rescheduling of lessons may be made on an individual basis if a minimum of 24 hour notice has been given. If the teacher is absent, the class will be made up.
- If public schools are closed because of weather, classes will continue if possible for both student and teacher. The safety of the family should be the determining factor in whether or not to travel to class.
- A student’s musical progress is directly proportional to the amount and quality of practice. Also, imperative to success is the involvement of parents in the musical life of the student in encouragement and interest of practice. A regular, daily practice is recommended with completion of weekly assignments expected.
